UFC 289 date, start time, odds, PPV schedule & card for Amanda … – Sporting News
Reclaiming the UFC bantamweight title against Juliana Pena, Amanda Nunes is ready to resume her run as UFC’s top star. “The Lioness” defends the title against Irina Aldana at UFC 289 inside the Rogers Arena in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, on June 10.
In the first UFC event in Canada since 2019, Nunes was supposed to face Pena in a third fight, but the latter backed out due to broken ribs. The Nunes-Aldana card airs on ESPN+ PPV in the U.S.
Nunes made her pro debut in 2008. Competing for Strikeforce and Invicta, she joined the UFC in 2013. After losing to Cat Zingano in 2014, Nunes went on a 12-fight win streak that saw her beat the likes of Sarah McMann, Valentina Shevchenko, Miesha Tate, Ronda Rousey, Raquel Pennington, Cris Cyborg, and Holly Holm. Nunes defeated Tate for the UFC bantamweight title in 2016, and in 2018 she knocked out Cyborg for the UFC featherweight title, becoming a double champion.
At UFC 269, Pena overpowered Nunes, submitting her in the second round to win the belt. Nunes, the only fighter in the UFC to defend two belts while holding onto them simultaneously, regained the belt at UFC 277, which took place in July 2022.

Ranked fifth in the UFC’s bantamweight rankings, Aldana turned pro in 2012. A former challenger of the Invicta FC bantamweight title, “Robles” joined the UFC in 2016. Aldana is 7-4 with the promotion and on a two-fight win streak. The Mexican fighter last competed in September, when she defeated Macy Chiasson via KO.
The co-main event will see Charles Oliveira vs. Beneil Dariush in a lightweight bout. Oliveira, a former UFC lightweight champion, won the belt in 2021 but lost it when he missed weight against Justin Gaethje in May 2022. In his last bout, competing for the vacant title, Oliveira was defeated by Islam Makhachev via submission.
Dariush, ranked fourth in the lightweight rankings, is on an eight-fight winning streak. His last bout was in October when he beat Mateusz Gamrot.

Why isnt this garbage on TV anywhere??
It’s on ESPN+
de Oliveira was embarrassing. Just stood there smiling and waiting to be hit. The ref literally had to tell him to fight back in round 1.
As boxing fans we’re all used to shocking mismatches… but ESPN take it to a new level.
I will keep an eye on Mason and see what develops for him.
