Boxing News: Showtime to stream three fights on Saturday » July 16 … – Fight News
A three-bout streaming presentation on the Showtime Sports YouTube channel and Showtime Boxing Facebook page will take place this Saturday from Capital One Arena in Washington, D.C. In the featured bout, super welterweight Vito Mielnicki Jr.(13-1, 8 KOs) battles Omar Rosales (9-1-1, 5 KOs) in an 8/10-round super welterweight clash. The action will also see rising undefeated super lightweight knockout artist Brandun Lee (26-0, 22 KOs) in an eight-rounder against Diego Luque (21-10-2, 10 KOs), and unbeaten Travon Marshall (5-0, 4 KOs) against Shawn West (7-2-1, 4 KOs) in a six-round super welterweight matchup.
The live streaming fights will precede a Showtime PPV telecast headlined by Gervonta “Tank” Davis defending his WBA lightweight title against unbeaten world champion Héctor Luis García.
The non-televised undercard will include both Peterson brothers.
Former two-division champion Lamont Peterson takes on Michael Ogundo in a six-round super lightweight fight, while his brother and once-beaten contender Anthony Peterson steps in to face Raul Chirino in a six-round super lightweight tilt.
Rounding out the card is Keeshawn Williams (10-1-1, 2 KOs) in a six-round welterweight bout against Gustavo David Vittori (26-11-1, 12 KOs), super welterweight Jalil Hackett (4-0, 3 KOs) dueling Joel Guevara (4-8-1, 3 KOs) in a four-rounder, and super middleweight Kyrone Davis (16-3-1, 6 KOs) facing Cristian Fabian Rios (23-15-3, 7 KOs) in an eight-round matchup.
Plus, Gervonta Davis-stablemate and once-beaten lightweight prospect Mia Ellis will step into the ring against Karen Dulin in a four-round.
Kind of disappointed that Lamont Peterson is coming back. He had given it his best shot and had taken quite a bit of punishment in his last two fights, almost four years ago now. Seemed a nice point to call it a day. Now nearly 39 and he wants to make another run. I’ve got no problem with his fighting guys like this, but I can’t imagine he came back to stay at this level.
At this rate they’ll be matching Brandun Lee against blind kindergarteners. The only dangerous opponent he faced dropped him HARD so they won’t be making that mistake again.
Thank you, Boxing gods……
WBC: the boxing gods.
Brandon Lee must be a hype job.. 26-0 with 22 kos fighting an 8 rounder? Against a fighter nobody has heard of with a 21-10 record? Makes Jamie Mungia look like a big risk taker.
Maybe he’s taking his time, we have all seen what happens when a boxer is moved up too early.
I agree with you and he’s only 23, but he’s probably fought quite a few opponents who were better than the one he has here. Either their first choice fell out or that knockdown in his last fight REALLY scared them.
Probably the second. They are probably trying to build his confidence up after that KD.
Oh When, Oh When…. will PBC make an actual competitive fight again?????
Brandun Lee has 26 fights and is fighting an 8 rounder, what a joke. Both Petersons are a bit long in the tooth, overdue to hang them up. Lamont was skillful in his day but didn’t have the KO power, Anthony had better power but wasn’t as skillful

UFC news: Erin Blanchfield gives update on next fight, title hopes – MMA Junkie
Erin Blanchfield patiently awaits her next UFC assignment.
Although it’s not totally clear what that will be, Blanchfield (12-1 MMA, 6-0 UFC) assumes an important matchup with Manon Fiorot (11-1 MMA, 6-0 UFC) is likely. The two flyweight combatants have established themselves as top contenders in a division that awaits a championship rematch between champion Alexa Grasso and former champion Valentina Shevchenko while they both recover from injury.
“Yeah, it’s definitely stalling,” Blanchfield recently said during an online live stream for digital wallet platform HUMBL. “I feel like I’ve had a couple No. 1 contender fights now. But you know, I’m still pretty young and gained valuable experience in those fights. … Whether it’s an interim or not, I’ll beat (Fiorot), and then I should definitely get a title next.”
Although UFC CEO Dana White has indicated it’s next, no timeline has been revealed for Grasso (16-3-1 MMA, 8-3-1 UFC) vs. Shevchenko (23-4-1 MMA, 12-3-1 UFC). Shevchenko had hand surgery in mid-September. Coincidentally, Grasso underwent hand surgery in early October.
Should there be further delays, Blanchfield wouldn’t mind seeing an interim title implemented. She’s healthy and ready to go, following a slight nasal fracture suffered in a unanimous decision win over Taila Santos in August.
“I haven’t been told about that yet,” Blanchfield said. I would definitely push for that. That’s something I’d definitely be interested in. I’m not sure when Valentina and Alexa are going to be ready to fight again. I know I think they’re on a similar timeline in their recovery. I would hope that if it ends up being longer, they’d have me and Manon fight for an interim.”

2 dead after fight outside Sacramento County bar leads to shooting – CBS News

SACRAMENTO COUNTY – Two men died after they were shot outside of a bar in Sacramento County early Sunday morning, the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office said.
Deputies responded to Sacto By Night at 7121 Governors Circle at about 1:45 a.m.
A group of people who were leaving the bar got into a fight outside, leading to a shooting, deputies said.
The victims, who were two men, died at the scene, deputies said. One of them was the owner of the bar.
Investigators with the sheriff’s office believe a group of gang members who initially refused to leave the nightclub at closing is at the center of the incident. Those gang members apparently got involved in a fight in the parking lot, investigators said, with the suspected shooter being one of those gang members.
Witnesses described a white vehicle that took off from the scene. Deputies said the CHP located a vehicle matching the description and detained four people from that vehicle.
The people detained have since been identified as being allegedly involved in the shooting. Several guns have been recovered.
According to the sheriff’s office, the names of the suspects will be released once homicide and related charges are filed.
Brandon comes to CBS13 from Action News Now (KHSL/KNVN) in Chico where he spent two years as the Digital Content Manager.
