Boxing News: Pitbull Cruz mauls Ramirez in two » August 23, 2023 – Fight News

By Rocky Morales at ringside
WBC #2 lightweight Isaac “Pitbull” Cruz (24-2-1, 17KO) was provided a sacrificial lamb in light-punching WBC #4 super featherweight Eduardo Ramirez (27-3-3, 12KO) and did not disappoint with a second round destruction of Ramirez in a WBC lightweight title eliminator. Ramirez was on his bike in the opening round with Cruz in hot pursuit. In the second round, it wasn’t long before Cruz landed a crunching lead left hook to drop Ramirez hard to the canvas. The referee took a long hard look at Ramirez before allowing him to continue. Moments later, Cruz landed an even more punishing left hook, right cross, left hook combo to drop Ramirez again with the referee immediately waving off the fight without a count. Time of the stoppage was 2:27 of the second round.
Despite becoming a mandatory to WBC (and undisputed) world champ Devin Haney, PBC appears to, instead, be pushing Cruz back into a rematch with WBA “regular” champ Getvonta “Tank” Davis. With Davis in attendance and the cameras focused on him, the easily led crowd in attendance chanted “We Want Tank, We Want Tank!!”
Cruz landed some nice crosses to set up his KO. Hats off to him. However, calling Tank out for the rematch will be much harder than the soft handed Ramirez he KO’d. Cruz has a habit of alienating his jab to set up his power punches by walking straight in and landing his bombs. Tank will take advantage of that mistake if they rematch since Tank has improved his game.
I like Cruz, he throws punches with bad intentions. On another note, why did he get a belt when he won a title eliminator?
It was the WBC silver title.
It think it was the “thank-you-for-winning-by-knoclout” version of the WBC strap. It’s legit.
Why not calling Tank when he already beat him once. Cruz will KO tank this time around to leave no doubts
No way Queenry takes this fight.
Cruz = A HARD OUT!!!
I want to see Lomachenko vs. Cruz (2023). I can’t wait to hear Lomachenko’s opinion about a Cruz fight in 2023. Otherwise, I have no problems with Haney vs. Cruz.
Unless he has NO CHOICE, Davis has zero interest in another scrap against Cruz. If Cruz wants to apply maximum pressure on Davis, he will have to go through Lomachenko and/or through Haney.
I would think Haney – Loma is the fight they make if they both win their next fights. It’s an easy fight to make and Loma would satisfy mandatories for 2 of Haney’s belts. Cruz is becoming an attraction though and Davis doesn’t have a lot of options though and if he is fighting in December and he wants the biggest fight possible, Cruz might be the guy.
What do you expect. PBC’s undercards are usually mismatches.
Pitbull and Tank definitely need to do it again. Cruz is becoming a fan favorite and can sell tickets. No reason for this fight not to happen next.
Too risky…Cruz is a good fighter…has Hagler like will but not Hagler like skills….has to get a better punch arsenal to be a champion…looping power hooks will not knock every fighter out….must have set up punches..in my opinion.. hopefully his team works on this ….rooting for this young fighter
same results tanks beats him again, cruz is similiar to mikey garcia

What time is Floyd Mayweather vs. John Gotti III today? Schedule, main card start time for 2023 exhibition boxing fight – Sporting News

Published

Floyd Mayweather once again steps inside the ring to compete in an exhibition fight. This time, he faces someone with legit combat sports experience and a last name nobody will ever forget. Mayweather faces John Gotti III, the grandson of infamous gangster John Gotti, on June 11.
The fight is inside the FLA Live Arena in Florida and airs on the Zeus Network.
Gotti turned pro in 2017. Winning five in a row to start his MMA career, Gotti lost his last fight in 2020 against Nick Alley. The 30-year-old has since competed in boxing bouts, winning two contests in the past eight months.
Calling this fight a “pinch-me moment,” Gotti has nothing but respect for Mayweather. However, he will not let his fandom get in the way of what he needs to do.

“I’ve been following him since I was eight years old,” Gotti said via Boxing Scene. “This was my idol. This was a guy I did school projects on. It was a guy I looked up to. The fact that I’m in a position to stand across the ring from Floyd is a tremendous honor. But make no mistake, June 11, I’m bringing bad intentions to that man. I don’t care if it’s an exhibition or not. You signed to fight me, there’s no quarter. It’s kill or be killed.”
This is the latest exhibition for Mayweather, who retired in 2017 at 50-0. In 2018 he teamed with RIZIN and beat young kickboxing star Tenshin Nasukawa via TKO. Mayweather fought Logan Paul and former training partner Don Moore in non-scored bouts. He beat Mikuru Asakura and YouTuber Deji in 2022 via TKO. In February, Mayweather went the distance against MMA fighter Aaron Chalmers.
Here is all you need to know regarding Mayweather vs. Gotti, from the time, channel, and card.
Mayweather vs. Gotti begins at 6:30 p.m ET | 3:30 p.m. PT. Ringwalks are scheduled for 10 p.m. ET | 7 p.m. PT, depending on how long the undercard fights last.
