In a clash between former heavyweight title challengers, Derek Chisora (34-12, 23 KOs) scored a ten round unanimous decision over Gerald Washington (20-6-1, 13 KOs). 39-year-old Chisora, coming off a WBC title shot against Tyson Fury in December, pressed the action against 41-year-old Washington in a slow-paced fight. Scores were 98-93, 97-94, 96-94.

Unbeaten heavyweight Johnny “The Romford Bull” Fisher (10-0, 9 KOs) stopped Harry Armstrong (5-2-1, 0 KOs) in round seven to claim the vacant English Southern Area title. Fisher dropped Armstrong in the first ten seconds, then seemingly punched himself out a bit trying unsuccessfully to get the finish. Fisher finally broke through again in round seven, dropping Armstrong, and getting the stoppage with his follow up barrage as Armstrong’s corner threw in the towel. Time was 1:19.

Chisora got a cherry-picked paycheck last December fighting Fury as a personal favor to line his pocket. Oddly, this matchup was a dud. Chisora, I doubt has any tools left to regain a legit belt unless he gets lucky by the skin of his teeth. Washington fought more defensive than offensive making this fight even more boring.

Yes, I agree, he is a durable and experienced fighter. However, now, I am simply stating my current assessment of his status. What is scary is… Advanced aging means higher risk for injuries in the ring. He has young daughters and needs to take that into consideration in my opinion.

I watched an interview with Roy a couple of days ago and while listening to him talk about it, I didn’t really have much of a problem with it but after seeing him now about to go through with it… no. This is not a good idea.
I’ve never been a fan of Roy Jones. Never liked his style, his clowning in the ring, and especially the horrid rap music he used for his usual ring entrances. I was hoping we had seen the last of that ridiculous style if his. No interest in seeing him back. I’m sure he will be doing a lot of posing, fighting cautiously to protect that delicate noggin of his. One clubbing right-wing power shot on that noggin and he’s in trouble.

your not a pure boxing fan roy jones was a great fighter his speed and power put him in a class a lone and he didn’t always play, he never was in no trouble with no punches until he made one big mistake and that was pride, he just won the heavyweight championship of the world and mind you he beat tarver once before but pride wanted him to put him in his place but instead of taking 8 to 10 months to get his body acclimated to 175 after he was all muscle at 200 he did it much sooner and his body wasn’t prepared to fight and though he won the first meeting with tarver he wasnt the same yet a strong doctor could of helped him then and kept him out the ring for atleast another year then he would of be ready and would of destroyed tarver and glenn johnson, but some some fighters are never the same after being knocked out, but you cant take nothing away of his achievements

Roy by decision
Its very, very sad to see him do this. These men are legends who say they love the sport of boxing in which they once excel. I give them that but when the time to walk away has come them you proudly go out and never look back like Marciano and Joe Calzhage for example. The knock outs from which you easily recovered in your youth can kill or paralyze you in age. Another thing stop being so freaking jealous of the youth. The NBA plays rap music as well as the NFL and MLB but you still watch it.
Roy has made a mockery of himself in recent years. He absolutely refuses to hang up the gloves. His last few fights ended in concussions. The boxing/MMA commissions should never approve a fight between Roy and anyone. (Another fighter, the mailman, the ice-cream truck man, a part time lawyer) or anyone else who agrees to fight him. It is going to take something tragic happening before he stops. His license should be revoked worldwide. Enjoy training, commentating, training upcoming talent, or just sitting in a hammock reminiscing about your former ring time, but he should never be allowed to enter a professional prize fight again.
You can train , get fit and may even be quick as you once were for a round or 2. But one thing you can’t improve as it diminishes is resistance to take a shot. Fingers crossed champ.
One of the best fighters ever. It’s a six round fight. The fact that he’s able to make weight like that at his age is a great accomplishment. Life expectancy is increasing every decade. I’m very confident that Jones will be fine in this fight. I understand people saying no because they’re worried about his quality of life and health. But don’t judge by saying Roy wasn’t a good fighter. He beat toney and Hopkins in their prime.
So Roy must really love boxing and all the attention in the ring, otherwise I can’t explain why he didn’t already retire after his devastating losses to Antonio Tarver, or Glen Johnson.

The stock of middleweight Chris Eubank Jr went way up after his dominating win over former conqueror Liam Smith on Saturday night in Manchester England.
“Listen, I wanna fight GGG,” proclaimed Eubank afterward. “I don’t know where he is right now but wherever you are Gennady, you’ve been holding on to them belts for too long. I want to take one. So let’s get in on if we can. 100%.”
As for the fight, Eubank said, “Liam is a warrior. I respect him, his team, his family and his brothers. They always come out and put it all on the line. Liam Smith’s own comment “I was flat and Chris was sharp” says it all. It looked like that in the fight.
Chris Eubank Jr knew early on that this was his night as his confidence quickly soared. To come back like this after a loss is impressive. It indicates mental strength.
A fight against GGG?
GGG is a phenomenon but he is not the same as 40+. Over the past seven years or so, he has slowly but surely lost more and more in my eyes. Nevertheless, he has managed to stay at such a high level thanks to his potential and physique.
Honestly, I think GGG would hang up the gloves. It’s time to hand over the middleweight to the younger guys.
I don’t see an obvious candidate today who would take over from GGG and dominate the weight class the way he has done.
And I’m a little unsure if Chris Eubank Jr. can go through walls when needed, when there’s a strong headwind in the ring, then he can look a little flat at times.
But Chris Eubank Jr. belongs at the top. I absolutely think he has the potential to park there for a while. I also think he can pick up a belt or two.
And his victory against Liam Smith leaves a positive impression. It will be exciting to see what happens next.
Canelo’s rating went down when all he could manage was to win every round against old GGG. Sadly we only got to see him in big fights at the start of his decline

The way Eubank came back tonight from the earlier loss is reminiscent of Terry Norris coming back from being obliterated by Simon Brown, only to beat him handily in the rematch. K.O. losses often shatter the confidence of even the best fighters. But to rebound from such a loss shows not only that Eubank has a strong psyche, but also more shelf life as a top-tier fighter.
I don’t see it other than Norris avenged the loss. Smith is No Simon Brown and Norris is a hall of famer. Eubank isn’t even close. He held on for dear life against Liam Smith. Liam Smith!!
Beating Golovkin now would
be mildly impressive but NOWHERE NEAR the achievement had he done so back in September 2016 when he was supposed to fight him. His father spent his time making ludicrous demands to Eddie Hearn so the promoter lost patience and scrapped the fight, costing Eubank Jr. 5 million; as a result, Kell Brook said yes as a replacement straight away and earned himself a decent payday along with, admittedly, a brutal shellacking. Now that GGG is over the hill, suddenly the ‘big names’ are being called out??!! Hmmmmm……

That fight was made before, then Eubanks dropped out, and Brooks had to step in. Eubanks had it in him to be a very good fighter, he did a better job on that Turkish German than Canelo did, and that was when the German was young, fresh and unbeaten, and it was also in Germany. Eubanks also did a better job on that Irishman Than Mungia did, again the Irishman was unbeaten and fresh. Eubanks then started getting swelled-head, not listening to no one. His worse move was linking up with mouthy Roy Jones, who is useless as a trainer. Eubanks will make a lot of money fighting the likes of little Benn and Brooks in Britain, but he will never be a world beate. The train has left the station i am afraid.

The last I heard GGG was looking for what would maybe be his final fight in Kazakhstan (and John Ryder was volunteering for it) but if Eubank wanted to go to and fight him there, I would think GGG would be interested. I don’t think it does much for him at this point of his career, even if he manages to win everyone will (correctly) just say that GGG was old and past his best.
