Boxing News: Frank Gore returns Saturday » July 19, 2023 – Fight News

The most active promoter in all of Texas, Team Morones Boxing, is having a show this Saturday at the Freeman Coliseum in San Antonio, Texas. Former NFL star Frank Gore (1-0) is headlining the event against Joshua Romero (0-2) in a four round heavyweight clash. The 39-year-old former 49er running back won his pro boxing debut in May after getting his feet wet in an exhibition fight on a Jake Paul undercard last year.
In the co-main event, coming off his first loss, Richard “El Castigo” Medina (13-1, 7 KOs) of San Antonio takes on Steven Garagarza (3-5-1, 2 KOs) of Laredo, Texas in a six rounder in the super featherweight division. Eight other bouts are set to take place including two female bouts.
Tickets are still available and the event will also be available for purchase on Fite.TV for $24.99. Former Fightnews.com® correspondent Christian Schmidt is set to be the announcer.

– Stop the PPV madness…..
The man wants to compete! That desire to compete is what kept him in the NFL for so long. A lot of athletes from other sports think they can step right into boxing because they’re good athletes and they’re tough. They realize very quickly boxing is a whole different ballgame. The fact Gore is hanging around for his 3rd fight (first was an exhibition, which he lost) shows he’s taking the sport seriously and is willing to learn. He improved so much in his pro debut from his 1st exhibition. With all that being said, we all know he’s going absolutely nowhere in the sport of boxing. A fight with Jake Paul somehere down the line is the most he can hope for.
PPV for this crap? The only thing interesting about this is its in Texas and the viewers can see ref Lawrence Cole to screw it up somehow.
I wouldn’t watch this card if they paid me the $24.99.
nfl guys trying to box just a circus nothing more no interest in this who gets the bigger percentage of the money does these shows really sell?

Former super world champion Anselmo “Chemito” Moreno and his wife Rousse Laguna presented a six fight pro boxing event on Friday night at the Centro de Combates in Panama City, to continue their campaign to rescue the Young local talent.
Super lightweights Fernando “Pantera” Martínez (6-2, 2 KOs) and Samir Cuentas (2-3, 0 KOs) starred a very tactical 6-round fight, with Martínez escaping with a majority decision.
The dislocation of the right shoulder of Carlos Montenegro (3-2-2, 0 KOs) exactly one minute into the fight, ended the great expectations of the co-main event, with a TKO victory for Daniel “El Chato” Lezcano (5-2-1, 3 KOs).
Flyweight Angel Bethancourt (3-0, 3 KOs) temporarily moved up to Bantam to stop Marcos Arrieta (0-8) by TKO at 2:45 of round number 2.
On his pro debut, super flyweight Jeffrey Martínez scored a first round knockout (2:55) over Fernando Lorenzo (0-3).
Welterweight sensation, Harvin Aguirre (7-0, 5 KOs) remains undefeated after beating veteran Barnie Argüelles ( 12-13, 8 KOs) at 1:55 of the very first round.
Also on welterweights, Josue Alvarado (4-1, 1 KO) stopped Oriel Bethancourt (0-4) at 0:54 of round number one.
The winners will fight on Laguna Premium Boxing´s next “KO to Cancer” event in October.
