Four-division former world champion Adrien “The Problem” Broner (35-4-1, 24 KOs) scored a ten round unanimous decision over Bill “Hutch” Hutchinson (20-3-4, 9 KOs) in a welterweight bout on Friday night at the Miami Casino in Miami, Florida. Broner walked down and generally beat up Hutchinson, who offered professional resistance, but Broner was always in charge. Scores were 100-90, 99-91, 99-91. It was the 33-year-old Broner’s first fight in 28 months. His last KO was in 2016.
WBA NABA/WBC NABF light heavyweight beltholder Ahmed Elbiali (23-1, 18 KOs) edged Rodolfo Gomez (14-7-3, 10 KOs) over ten hard fought rounds. Gomez down twice in round four, both ruled low blows. Scores were 95-94 3x.
42-year-old former two-division world champion Guillermo Rigondeaux (22-3, 15 KOs) scored a seventh round KO over previously unbeaten Charlie Clemente (12-1, 5 KOs). A slow-paced chess match ended suddenly when Rigo connected with a body shot that sent Clemente down for the count. Time was 2:47.
Unbeaten featherweight Neslan Machado (20-0, 9 KOs) punished Jonathan Smith (8-2, 6 KOs) until the referee waved off the bout at 2:24 of round two.
Unbeaten lightweight Antonio Williams (16-0-1, 7 KOs) knocked out Braulio Rodriguez 20-7, 17 KOs) in the first round. Rodriguez down twice. Time was 2:21.
Unbeaten super lightweight Antonio Perez (8-0, 5 KOs) outpointed Nigel Fennell (13-3, 8 KOs) over eight rounds. Scores were 80-72 3x.
Lightweight Joshua Clark (7-1, 2 KOs) took a six round unanimous decision over previously unbeaten Dorian Bostic (13-1, 12 KOs) by scores of 60-54, 59-55, 58-56.
Other Results:
Adlay Rodriguez KO1 Raul Garcia Jr. (welterweight)
Brayan Leon KO1 Jon Kennedy (super middleweight)
Looks like a bunch of competitive fights here. Wish I had ordered this!!!!
Broner walking out yet?
Sparring session for Broner. Nice and easy. Nothing coming back. Would be good if Broner was preparing for a fight next week. Hutchinson’s arm punches were an insult to arms.
This was a PPV. Just think of that for a moment. Washed-up Broner slapping around a lawyer for ten rounds, couldn’t even stop him. Broner is so pedestrian now, his technique was flat every minute of every round.
Broner has had many “comeback” fights in a row now. I wonder how many years or decades you can be a comeback without having properly elevated your career. We all know his “4 weight” titlist is the least impressive in possibly 20-30 years with that stat. I counted 1 good title defense he had. Everyone else were nobodies. People think Broner was also legit because he fought some legit names. Just not in their primes, and some names he lost against. The press conference was pretty funny/entertaining. A lot of delusion.
Broner wins a decision against a glorified weekend warrior, then calls for a champion fight. Absolutely absurd.
That’s not fair to Hutchinson. The guy has a 20-3 record. That’s hardly a weekend warrior.
Agree…MC…. Hutchinson is a warrior..speaking from personal experience…I know how tough the road is to becoming a licensed Attorney.passing a state bar…because…I am an Attorney..I passed two state bars..also I know how tough it is to train as a fighter …trained with amateurs and pros..because I am a “gym rat” but never have I stepped in the ring with ” 4 weight” Titleist or had a professional boxing match …then the accomplishment of going the distance….Hutchinson is living the American dream …a remarkable achievement…Kudos to Broner for giving this “warrior” a chance…cause you don’t play boxing..Congrats to all…Heard a funny story about Duran once sparring with an attorney and Duran knocked the snot out him..not taking it easy at all…Funny!!!!.
Rolly is “champ” …absurdier..
Congrats Broner….wishing you the best…please be professional with this artform…this wonderful gladiator sport…learn from mistakes..make the best of this opportunity…focus…

Chicago boxer Kenneth Sims Jr. at No. 2 world ranking – CBS News

By Jori Parys
/ CBS Chicago
CHICAGO (CBS) — Englewood native Kenneth Sims Jr. is making noise in pro boxing.
His latest win last month was his seventh straight, and a WBA super lightweight title eliminator. But as CBS 2’s Jori Parys reported Monday, Sims has fought through obstacles to get where he is – including managing sickle cell.
Sims put on a pair of boxing gloves for the first time at 8 years old.
“My dad forced me to box – and I hated it,” Sims said.
But the young Sims was a natural.
“He picked up things so fast that it was like, ‘Oh, show him this – he has it,” said Sims’ dad, Kenneth Sims Sr.
“He was like, ‘When you learn how to it, you can quit,'” said Sims Jr. “By that point, I didn’t want to quit.”
Sims has fought around the world as a member of the USA Boxing national team, and turned pro in 2014.
He rattled off a 2021 record with seven knockouts since.
But Sims’ latest win raised eyebrows. A 12-round bout against Batyr Akhmedov being ended by majority decision came as no surprise to Sims.
“I seen all the tweets people talk about me seen article people talk about me,” said Sims. “So it was like satisfying to prove them wrong – and satisfying prove people that believed in me right.”
What did Sims prove to himself in that fight?
“Nothing. Nothing,” he said. “I just did what I knew I could do.”
Sims hasn’t lost since a fight since 2018. That was when he noticed something felt off.
“All my energy just went away, and I was just like this – kind of like a zombie before the fight,” said Sims.
Sims was dealing with the side effects of sickle cell – a disease that affects red blood cells’ shape and ability to carry oxygen.
“The first thing they tell you about it is to be careful of strenuous work – so that’s his life,” said Sims’ fiancée, Jailyn Brown. “He has to be sure that he’s taking vitamins; be sure that he’s very hydrated.”
“My mind’s saying do stuff in the ring, but I can’t move, really – my body won’t let me do it. It was a big obstacle for me to overcome,” Sims said. “After I lost, my team, my uncle, my dad – we all was doing research. Went to the doctor got bloodwork stuff done, and I hired nutritionists and stuff. Since I’ve been working with them, I’ve been feeling great.”
Sims ascension to No. 2 in WBA rankings hasn’t come without its challenges but all have led to the present point – preparing with hopes for a world title shot.
“This is where you’re supposed to be. I’ve always said that,” said Sims Sr. “The community we come in you have to figure out how to get through things and that’s always what I’ve preached to him.”
Sims Jr. – a boxer known as “Bossman” – is a true family man with kids of his own, and credits his family as his inspiration. He said it means a lot to be from Chicago, and hopes to one day bring a world title fight to his home city.
Until then, the pro boxer from Englewood will keep working to make his dreams a reality.
“Growing up, I used to watch showtime championship boxing,” said Sims. “Now I’m on it.”
Three fights ago, sims wasn’t ranked. Now he’s No. 2 in world, and will get the first shot to challenge for a world title.
