2009 Trainer of the Year
Montreal trainer Marc Ramsay was able to deliver and capture his first world championship guiding Jean Pascal past Adrian Diaconu, not once, but twice and went 4-0 the flashy fighter, guiding him back from his only career loss and moving up to light-heavyweight. “Marc kept everything calm and in control,” Russ Anber told Fightnews of the second Diaconu fight where Pascal separated his shoulder. “There was never any panic and he controlled things very professionally.” In addition to Pascal and his great year, Ramsay guided WBO #3 ranked welterweight Antonin Decarie to a 3-0 mark on the year along with getting Columbian imports Oscar Rivas and Eleider Alvarez off to successful starts.
Broadcaster, trainer, cutman, business owner, Russ Anber wears many hats, but his work with knockout David Lemieux is quickly being noticed. He is bringing the youngster along at what seems to be the perfect speed, not rushing and amping up the opposition just enough each time. Anber also plays an integral part of many corners both at home and on the road including Jean Pascal, Tony Luis and Felix Diaz.
